August 11, 2017 Update: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the PDP has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience. Extra space is available in the Boys South Winnipeg Sports Skills, Conditioning & Power Skating Camp. Details are available here.
SWHA introduced the PDP in 2010 to help prepare players for the tryout process. The regular season registration fee includes just one (1) skate prior to tryouts, so the PDP is recommended to get back into hockey shape!
Five (5) PDP groups will be created and each group will receive five (5) hours of training in preparation for their respective tryouts. There will be a maximum of 25 players and 3 goaltenders in each group. During each one hour session, players will receive 40 minutes of conditioning and skill development and 20 minutes of scrimmage time. A goalie instructor will also be present at the majority of the sessions and will work with all goalies on the finer points of agility, quickness, puck handling and playing angles.
On ice instruction is provided by Keane Hockey Programs. Billy Keane has 27 years experience as a full time hockey development professional. He is an assistant coach with the Winnipeg South Blues (MJHL) and has coached at various levels in minor hockey, AAA, MJHL, and University teams. Instructors are all qualified hockey instructors chosen and trained by Billy.
Email Steve Mason, SWHA’s Director of Player Development @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note, the PDP is for participants in the boy’s hockey program only. Girls in the Female Hockey Program are encouraged to become involved in the South Winnipeg Sports Preseason Hockey Camp (www.southwinnipegsports.ca) which operates at Richmond and Keith Bodley Community Centres.
